- Goldfrapp Bring The Glamour To Access All April
With one of the most elaborate stage shows of Access All April, Goldfrapp packed out The Ritz last night (April 18) for another stunning show featuring bikini-clad wolf-head dancers and a violin playing Jesus. Genius.
With one of the hottest of all of our AAA gigs hitting Manchester’s Ritz last night, Alison Goldfrapp led her band through 14-tracks of electronic glory especially for Xfm Manchester. Ably warmed up by the stunning pairing of Vib Gyor and The Shortwave Set, Alison was joined on stage by a pair of percussionists, a multitude of black boxes and a man looking somewhat like Jesus playing the violin complete with robe and, ahem, Converse trainers.
Kicking off with ‘Utopia’ from the band’s ‘Felt Mountain’ LP, the band stormed through selections from both their debut and breakthrough record ‘Supernature’ as ‘Lovely Head’, ‘Train’ ‘Satin Chic’ and ‘Fly Me Away’ all received huge cheers.
Wowing the tiny crowd with dancers bearing glitter-ball horses heads and wolf masks, Alison and her band of elctropioneers ploughed through a final double whammy of ‘Ride On A White Horse’ and ‘Ooh La La’ before returning for a victory lap with ‘Black Cherry’, a sultry ‘Number 1’ and a final storming ‘Strict Machine’.
With bass speakers blown and feet sore, Manchester makes its way home following another contender for gig of the year.
