Text Alison Goldfrapp talks us through the tit-tasslin-tastic promo for the sultry new single ?Train? ? also starring girls in antlers, two men and a dog.
?It?s kind of a degenerate version of Cats: The Musical. No! It?s kind of lots of little ideas really. It?s girls, lots of girls. And tit-tassling which is a remarkable skill; you stick tassles on your nipples and then try and make them spin. And then there?re girls with deer heads on, me and a dog and two blokes. Yeah. It?s all good fun.

?There?s not much of a connection with the song, no. I?m interested in symbolism and mythology and animals and art and history and things like that. And tit-tassling?s a skill that I?ve admired for a long time, I like the confidence of it. I think what comes across in the video is a really playful and confident sexuality.

?Dawn [Shadworth, director] is a friend of other people I know. She?s from Sheffield and I?ve always liked her work. She?s just a great person to work with. We just shared ideas, there was a group of us who just had really good fun doing the whole thing. I bought to her quite a few ideas and then she had ideas and then we worked out the whole thing together.

?I think videos are difficult because ultimately you want them to be an extension of the track, of the music and for me the track has got an edge to it and is confident. It?s about obsession and indulgence. So ultimately, yes, the marriage of music and pictures is a great thing. But it doesn?t always work out like that it?s quite difficult because the record company has an agenda, the director has an agenda, the artist has an agenda. And quite often videos just end up being literally an advertisement for the band so it?s nice when you find a director you get on with and the crew and the make-up ? you all get on and you have a vision together that?s when it?s really great. But I don?t think it always works that way, it?s quite difficult. And also videos are so bloody expensive.

?But this was a really good marriage of agendas which doesn?t happen that often, I think that?s why everyone really enjoyed working on it and I think that comes across on the screen.?
